How long have you been in business?
Riverwood Therapeutic Riding Center has been serving Forsyth and other surrounding NC Counties for 21 years (since 1995).
What is your primary product or service?
Riverwood provides professional equine assisted activities and farm based and environmental learning opportunities for children and adults with special needs. We offer therapeutic riding classes, equine facilitated learning, team building, and mobile services.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Susan Hubbard has always been an avid horse woman and studied equine care at Averett University. She later went to Memorial Hospital School of Nursing where she received her degree in nursing. She found a way to combine her passion for serving those with special needs and disabling medical conditions and belief in the healing power of horses by founding Riverwood Therapeutic Riding Center.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Riverwood provides a unique service to the community - we are a premiere accredited center trough the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (http://www.pathintl.org/). Riverwood is the only accredited therapeutic riding center in Forsyth County. The next closest accredited center us located in Guilford County.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We currently have 1 facility. To meet the current and increasing demand for equine assisted activities and therapies in our community we are open to exploring the possibility of adding a satellite facility for Riverwood's programs.
