How long have you been in business?
I have been involved in outdoor lighting since 1998. We officially opened Castlelights as a sole proprietorship in 2003 and incorporated in 2007. Today we are offering Castlelights franchise systems through Castlelights Unlimited, Inc.
What is your primary product or service?
We provide professional design services, installation and maintainence of low voltage architectural and landscape lighting systems
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I discovered landscape lighting during a brief visit to Beverly Hills, California in 1986. The lighting there was fascinating in its beauty and very intriguing. Being a longtime artist, I studied the techniques and brought the effect to my home. I used lights that I purchased at a home improvement center to illuminate my architecture and a couple of ornamental trees in my front yard. I was able to get the effect, but the equipment was of poor quality. I am an artist, but I also have a degree in Aviation Technologies and a 19 year career in aviation where I was involved in aircraft electrical system troubleshooting and repair. Not only is a good artistic design important, but understanding Ohm’s law and having technical ability are equally important. My neighbors were impressed with my work and began asking me to help them light their homes. Soon after that, Castlelights was born.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Outdoor Lighting is our only business and we are the experts. Our designs are top-notch and we use equipment that offers the best value in terms of quality, serviceability and price. While pricing is certainly a factor, we believe that doing the job correctly the first time with higher quality standards are most important. Who wants to spend the money all over again in a few years because of meager quality?
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Our home office in Clemmons, NC offices manage Winston-Salem, Greensboro, High Point and surrounding Triad Areas. We also have operations in Lake Norman and the Greater Charlotte area. We are in the process of franchising our business, so there are opportunities in other areas of the Southeast that are open for development.

What type of payments do you accept?
We accept cash, check or major credit cards.
Which areas do you service?
We presently service the Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Highpoint and surrounding Triad Areas. We also service Lake Norman and other surrounding Charlotte areas.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Our president and founder; Timothy W. Burge
What are your hours of operation?
8am-5pm are our standard hours, otherwise we can meet you by appointment at your convenience.
